Delhi's BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna, Tata Power Delhi, and Noida Power secured top ratings in power distribution for FY23. Power Minister RK Singh unveils consumer service ratings, highlighting the A+ ranking of NPCL, BRPL, BYPL, and TPDDL among 62 discoms. Emphasis on rooftop solar installations and reflective tariffs for sustainability.
"As per the ratings, NPCL, BRPL, BYPL, and TPDDL have achieved an A+ (highest) ranking among all the 62 rated discoms in the country," the power ministry said. Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra's power distribution companies were rated among the next best with an 'A' rating.
Singh emphasised increasing rooftop solar installations in the country and the interventions required from states, discoms, and the Centre for Simplifying Rooftop Solar Installations. He also said that tariffs should be reflective of the cost of supply and should be up-to-date. Realistic and prudent loss reduction trajectories should be adopted by power sector regulators to ensure the viability of distribution companies. The companies were advised to adopt prepaid smart metering on priority for government offices to overcome the issue of outstanding government department dues.
