Following the official visit of Professor Makame Mnyaa Mbarawa, Minister of Transport, United Republic of Tanzania, to Cochin Shipyard, the state-owned Cochin Shipyard Ltd and Tanzania's state-owned Marine Services Company Ltd took a step forward in cooperating and collaborating in developing infrastructure and ecosystems in shipbuilding and ship repair in the African nation.
Cochin Shipyard, India's largest shipbuilder by dock capacity, and Marine Services inked a memorandum of cooperation in October when Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, visited India.
Tanzania’s Transport Minister, Professor Mbarawa, was accompanied by Dr Kheri Omari Goloka, Minister Counsellor, Tanzania High Commission, Eric Benedict Hamissi, Managing Director, Marine Services Company and team. According to an official statement, the Cochin Shipyard team was led by Madhu Nair, Chairman and Managing Director, and Sreejith Narayanan, Director (Operations).
A senior management team from Cochin Shipyard also participated in the deliberations.
The visiting delegation from Tanzania was taken around the facilities for a better understanding of the infrastructure and capabilities of the shipyard. The visiting delegation is also expected to tour the newly opened International Ship Repair Facility at Willingdon Island.
