ArcelorMittal France is preparing to bring another blast furnace back online at its Fos-sur-Mer steel plant in the first half of 2026, a move aimed at restoring full operating strength at the site. The restart follows ongoing maintenance and modernization work designed to improve reliability and extend furnace life.

The Fos-sur-Mer plant returned to steel production in late 2025 after repairs linked to an earlier fire disruption. One furnace was brought back into operation in mid-December 2025, allowing slab production and downstream rolling to resume. With the next restart, ArcelorMittal is looking to improve production stability and strengthen supply from one of its key flat steel hubs in France. The site operates two blast furnaces with a combined annual capacity of about 4-5 million metric tons.
