AMNS India aims to produce 70% of its steel via green methods by 2027.

Plans include electric arc furnaces, scrap usage, CCS, and hydrogen technologies.

Move aligns with India’s decarbonization goals and global green steel trends.

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India) has unveiled plans to transition 70% of its steel production to green methods by 2027, marking a significant leap in its sustainability efforts. The move aligns with global decarbonization trends and supports India’s net-zero ambitions.

The company aims to achieve this through increased use of electric arc furnaces, enhanced energy efficiency, and integrating scrap-based production methods. AMNS India is also exploring carbon capture, storage (CCS), and green hydrogen technologies to bolster its green steel roadmap.

In recent years, steel producers worldwide have been under pressure to reduce emissions, and AMNS India’s initiative positions it among the front-runners in Asia’s clean steel transformation. With steel being one of the highest carbon-emitting industries, the push towards green production is being closely watched by industry stakeholders and investors alike.

This announcement comes amid increasing regulatory and market pressure for cleaner steel, especially from European and North American buyers who are now factoring sustainability into procurement decisions.
