Vardhman Special Steels Limited (VSSL) has approved setting up a new manufacturing unit for forging of alloy steel components for the automotive industry in Punjab, as disclosed to stock exchanges under SEBI regulations. The company’s board cleared the proposal on 22 December 2025, with an estimated investment of ₹475 crore.
As per the company’s disclosure, the expansion is positioned as forward integration of its existing steelmaking operations to deliver a more comprehensive, one-stop solution for automotive original equipment customers, aligned with Japanese-quality standards.
Industry reporting adds that the planned facility in Punjab (Ludhiana) is expected to be developed with advanced forging technology, modern heat treatment and stringent quality controls, targeting demand from sectors including automotive and broader engineering. The project is also expected to create direct and indirect employment and will be implemented in phases, subject to statutory approvals and execution timelines.
