Tata Steel has partnered with Google Cloud to roll out a large-scale agentic AI program across its global operations, deploying more than 300 specialized AI agents in just nine months. The move marks a major digital transformation step for the steelmaker as it looks to improve speed, precision, safety, and decision-making across the value chain.
The AI deployment spans manufacturing, maintenance, HR, finance, customer service, and market intelligence. Tata Steel says these agents are helping predict asset maintenance needs, automate routine workflows, analyze complaints faster, and support quicker operational decisions. According to the company, its internal HR helpdesk now resolves over 70% of routine employee tickets autonomously, while AI-led complaint analysis has cut average turnaround time by 50%.
For the steel industry, the partnership highlights how AI is moving from pilot projects to real-world industrial execution. It also strengthens Tata Steel’s position as one of the front-runners in smart manufacturing, industrial automation, and AI-led steel operations.
