Tata Steel has signed a contract with Air Water India Private Limited (AWIPL) for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of its Air Separation Unit (ASU), a critical facility for supplying industrial gases to its steelmaking operations.
Located at Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur works, the ASU produces essential gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, and argon, which are used in steelmaking, energy optimization, and various metallurgical processes.
Under the agreement, AWIPL will manage the plant’s day-to-day operations, maintenance, and efficiency improvements, ensuring uninterrupted gas supply and adherence to the highest safety and environmental standards.
The collaboration aligns with Tata Steel’s focus on operational excellence, sustainability, and strategic partnerships. By leveraging AWIPL’s expertise in gas technologies, Tata Steel aims to enhance production reliability, reduce energy consumption, and strengthen its green steel transition roadmap.
Company officials said the partnership will also contribute to improved asset performance and process optimization, supporting Tata Steel’s broader efforts to increase efficiency and reduce emissions across its facilities.
This initiative reinforces Tata Steel’s commitment to integrating advanced industrial solutions to drive long-term operational sustainability.
