India–US Trade Tensions Rise Over Steel and Auto Tariffs NMDC Limited reports a 38% drop in Q4 FY24 consolidated net profit RINL to Raise $23 Million Through Land Sales Amid Crisis
Odisha is gearing up to launch land acquisition for a ₹40,000 crore mega steel plant in Keonjhar district, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed during his visit to the region. The project, a joint venture between JSW Group and POSCO, will have an initial production capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
Two key land parcels have been identified—one in Taramakant under Banspal block and another near Patna block. The required funds for acquisition have already been deposited, signaling swift action on the ground.
CM Majhi emphasized that the steel plant will serve as a catalyst for economic development, job creation, and infrastructure growth. He also reviewed various district-level initiatives covering healthcare, tourism, industry, and connectivity, reinforcing the state’s commitment to balanced regional development.
With Keonjhar’s strategic location and mineral wealth, the district is poised to become a major industrial hub. The steel plant is expected to draw ancillary industries, improving road networks and local livelihoods in the process.
This marks a significant push by the Odisha government to harness industrial investment for long-term growth and employment in the mineral-rich region.
