India's mineral output increased by 8% in February compared to the same month last year, the government announced on Thursday. In February 2024, the mining and quarrying sector's index of mineral production increased by 8% over the same month the previous year.
The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) released provisional numbers for the April–February period of 2023–24 that show an 8.2% cumulative gain over the same time the previous year, according to the Ministry of Mines.
According to the report, February produced 966 lakh tonnes of coal, 42 lakh tonnes of lignite, 2,886 million cubic metres of natural gas, and 23 lakh tonnes of crude petroleum.
Gold, copper concentrate, bauxite, chromite, phosphorite, limestone, and coal are among the minerals that have shown favourable growth.
"Other important minerals showing negative growth include iron ore and lead conc," the statement added.
