JSW Steel has commissioned a hot strip mill at its integrated steel plant in Vijayanagar, Karnataka. JSW Steel also made the first dispatch of steel products from the plant, which has an annual capacity of 5 million tonnes (MT), according to an exchange filing.
"JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd (JVML), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company, today successfully commissioned its hot strip mill (HSM) at Vijayanagar plant with a capacity of 5 MTPA and has made its first dispatch," the company said.
The HSM facility is outfitted with cutting-edge technology, including waste heat recovery systems, evaporative cooling systems, and digital reheating furnaces, among others, and it can produce coils and plates.
Commencing commercial manufacturing and sales, JSW Steel reported that the facility was turned on on March 17, 2024, following the successful conclusion of trial runs and quality & delivery testing.
