ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, an Indian steel maker, has awarded Danieli Corus a new greenfield pellet plant project contract at its Visakhapatnam facility in India.
The new travelling-grate pellet facility, which will enhance AMNS' annual pellet production capacity in Visakhapatnam from 8 to 12 million metric tonnes (MMT), would generate blast furnace and direct reduction grade pellets as feedstock for AMNS' other production sites around the country. It is anticipated that the new pelletising factory will begin operations in 2027.
The company's growth plan includes the greenfield Hazira blast furnace projects that Danieli Corus is currently working on and the pelletising facility 3.
The new pellet plant will have a 504 m² reaction area and produce blast furnace and DR-grade pellets as feedstock for production sites operated by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel elsewhere in the country. The project scope includes design, supply, and installation supervision for the major/key equipment for the green pelletising and induration areas and smart digital tools.
