Wipro, a leading Indian IT firm, has expanded its partnership with Intel Foundry to accelerate chip design innovation in the semiconductor and hi-tech sectors. In a regulatory filing on Wednesday, Wipro announced its role as the key design services and alliance partner, collaborating with Intel Foundry to advance the development of Intel's most advanced process nodes, including the Intel18A process node.
The global AI chip market is forecast to witness significant growth, averaging a compounded annual growth rate of 38% from 2023 to 2032, as mentioned in the filing. The collaboration between Wipro and Intel Foundry aims to meet the increasing demand for AI chip manufacturing, driven by the rapid deployment of generative AI-enabled products by companies.
Atul Kapur, Vice President and Business Head for HiTech at Wipro, highlighted the significance of the collaboration with Intel Foundry, positioning Wipro as a participant in the semiconductor industry. This partnership opens up avenues for Wipro to support chip supply and manufacturing, targeting emerging markets, particularly in the Gen AI space, and enabling clients to expedite their time to market.
Wipro's design services will complement Intel Foundry's manufacturing capabilities, empowering clients across various sectors such as automotive, industrial, and telecommunications to leverage Gen AI-driven designs and Foundry services for continuous innovation.
Furthermore, Wipro's $1 billion investment in the AI360 ecosystem will synergize with its collaboration with Intel on AI-driven chip manufacturing. This partnership is expected to streamline time-to-market processes and deliver significant advantages to clients in the design verification and physical design realms, facilitating a seamless transition towards next-generation chip technology.
