Turkey has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of thick-gauge rolled steel (heavy plate) from South Korea ,for a period of five years.

Under the new regulation, POSCO will face a duty of 4.37%, Hyundai Steel will be charged 4.34%, while all other South Korean producers and exporters will be subject to a higher rate of 9.40% of the CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value.

The move follows an investigation initiated after complaints from Turkish steelmakers, which found that heavy plate imports from South Korea were being sold below fair market value, causing injury to the domestic industry. The probe covered dumping activities between October 2022 and September 2023, along with industry performance between 2020 and 2023.

The decision underscores Turkey’s efforts to protect its steel sector from unfair trade practices, aligning with a broader global trend of increasing trade defense measures in the steel industry.
