Tata Steel has selected John Cockerill India Ltd to install a new Push-Pull Pickling Line (PPPL) and a Spray Roaster Acid Regeneration Plant (ARP) at its Tinplate Division in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The PPPL will have a 350,000 tonnes per annum capacity, processing strip widths up to 1,350 mm and thicknesses up to 3.8 mm, with a line speed of 120 m/min.
The integrated ARP is designed to regenerate over 99.5% of hydrochloric acid, cutting fresh acid consumption, lowering operating costs, and producing high-purity iron oxide as a saleable by-product. Tata Steel said the project will enhance productivity, surface quality, and environmental performance, supporting its broader modernization roadmap.
Under the contract, John Cockerill India will supply equipment, supervise erection and commissioning, and ensure compliance with stringent safety and emission standards.
