Moradabad: The announcement of tariffs on aluminium and steel by the US President has created anxiety among brass exporters in Moradabad, famously known as the ‘Brass City’ of India. The move has prompted American buyers to send emails to exporters, requesting them not to mix aluminium and steel in brass products.
According to the buyers, the newly imposed tariffs will increase the cost of products containing aluminium and steel, making them expensive and difficult to purchase. This has raised concerns among exporters, as the US is a key market for Moradabad's brass industry. Many exporters fear that rising costs could impact demand and affect their business.
"Buyers are worried about the price hike due to the tariffs. They have specifically asked us to avoid using aluminium and steel components to keep the costs down," said a local exporter. This has forced many manufacturers to rethink their production strategies, as aluminium and steel are commonly used in various brass products for durability and strength.
Industry experts are urging the government to engage in discussions with the US administration to find a solution. They believe that the tariffs could disrupt the export market, affecting not only Moradabad but also other Indian industries dependent on aluminium and steel.
As the situation unfolds, exporters are hoping for a resolution that balances international trade policies with the interests of local businesses.
