India–US Trade Tensions Rise Over Steel and Auto Tariffs NMDC Limited reports a 38% drop in Q4 FY24 consolidated net profit RINL to Raise $23 Million Through Land Sales Amid Crisis
Morocco-based rebar producer Somasteel has officially inaugurated the expansion of its Nouaceur production facility, south of Casablanca, in a ceremony attended by Ryad Mezzour, Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade.
The project includes installation of a modern electric reheating furnace (reported as a new electric steel/furnace investment in local coverage) and represents a total investment of MAD 760 million (roughly $76–$83 million, depending on the conversion cited). With the new facilities, Somasteel expects to raise annual billet production capacity to 400,000 tonnes, enabling it to produce a critical input for reinforcing steel in-house.
Somasteel positions the expansion as a step change in vertical integration completing the production chain from scrap metal recycling through to rebar and as a lever to strengthen domestic manufacturing and import substitution competitiveness.
The employment impact is also significant: direct jobs are expected to rise from 250 to 850, with about 1,800 indirect jobs projected in the surrounding region.
