Queensland’s coal exports recorded a strong monthly rebound in June 2026, rising 13.6% from May to reach 19.64 million metric tons. The growth was supported by shipments from key Australian coal terminals, including Hay Point, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, Abbot Point and Gladstone.

Among major ports, Gladstone handled 6.35 million metric tons, while Dalrymple Bay shipped 6.04 million metric tons. Hay Point exports stood at 4.14 million metric tons, and Abbot Point posted 3.1 million metric tons, showing strong year-on-year growth. Japan remained the leading destination for Gladstone coal, followed by South Korea, India and China.

The latest export figures highlight steady demand for Australian coal across Asian steelmaking and energy markets. For the January-June 2026 period, total shipments from these Queensland ports reached 95.99 million metric tons, reflecting the region’s continued importance in global raw material trade.
