Primetals Technologies and ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt have successfully completed a major converter revamp at the Eisenhüttenstadt steel plant in Germany.The project involved replacing and commissioning the suspension system of the 255-metric-ton LD converter No. 2. The work was completed within 50 days, while steel production continued at the plant.
Primetals handled the engineering study, equipment manufacturing and supply, advisory support during construction, and assistance during commissioning and startup. The project was completed on schedule through close coordination between both teams.
According to ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt, the converter, including its new refractory lining, was moved smoothly during ongoing production. The revamp was also completed without safety issues, highlighting strong planning and execution.For the steel industry, the project reflects the growing focus on plant modernization, operational reliability and efficient steelmaking upgrades across Europe.
