Tata Steel's subsidiary, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), is set to undertake a significant expansion of its steel plant in Odisha's Jajpur district. With an investment of ₹61,769 crore, the project aims to increase the plant's capacity from 0.98 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 9.5 MTPA. This expansion is expected to create approximately 14,000 jobs, comprising 4,500 direct and 9,500 indirect employment opportunities.
The expansion plan includes the development of advanced infrastructure, such as a captive power plant and enhanced transportation facilities, to support the increased production capacity. The project aligns with India's National Steel Policy, which targets a production capacity of 300 MTPA by 2030.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the state's commitment to industrial growth, stating that such investments mark a historic turning point for the region.
