First steel bridge launched for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project in Gujarat.

Advanced technology and weather-resistant steel used for high-speed support.

Marks a major construction milestone for India’s bullet train ambitions.

In a key milestone for India’s ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, the first steel bridge has been successfully launched across a railway line in Gujarat. The bridge spans over 70 meters and is designed to support trains operating at speeds of 320 km/h.

The launch took place near the Narmada district and is part of the High-Speed Rail (HSR) corridor being developed by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). The bridge is made of weathering steel, offering high strength and corrosion resistance, critical for the project’s longevity and safety.

Engineers utilized advanced Japanese construction technology to position the bridge with precision, minimizing disruption to existing rail lines. The bridge weighs over 600 metric tons and was assembled using high-performance bolting and lifting techniques.

This launch sets the pace for upcoming infrastructure elements, with over 100 bridges planned for the bullet train route. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad line, India’s first bullet train corridor, is expected to be completed in phases with partial operations targeted in the next few years.
