The Ministry of Defence has inked a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BEML, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), and Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI) to develop sophisticated fueling and control systems for heavy-duty engines indigenously.

The MoU was signed in New Delhi by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, along with the Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, Shantanu Roy, the CMD of MIDHANI, Dr SK Jha, and the CMD of BEL, Bhanu Prakash Srivastava.

This joint endeavour will focus on leveraging indigenous skills to develop, test, and build an upgraded fueling and control system with improved efficiency, performance, and reliability, according to a press release.

By harnessing the latest advancements in engine technology and control systems, the companies aim to extend their domain expertise to develop engine systems which will ensure self-reliance in combat vehicles. The MoU corroborates the government's resolve to develop complex technologies within the country under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, it added.
