JSW Steel has started work on its major integrated steel plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district, marking a big boost for the state’s industrial and steel manufacturing growth.
The JSW Rayalaseema Integrated Steel Plant will be developed at Sunnapurallapalli and Peddadanluru villages with a total investment of ₹16,350 crore. The project will be built in two phases across 1,100 acres and is expected to reach a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum.
The first phase will involve an investment of ₹4,500 crore, while the second phase will add ₹11,850 crore. JSW aims to begin commercial production by March 2028. The plant is planned as a modern green steel facility using scrap-based Electric Arc Furnace technology, which can help reduce carbon emissions.The project is also expected to create employment opportunities, support ancillary industries and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position in India’s steel sector.
