Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), one of India’s largest stainless steel producers, is actively pursuing a ₹40,000 crore investment to set up a world-class stainless steel manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal confirmed that the company is in advanced discussions with the state government regarding the acquisition of a suitable land parcel for the project.
“We are very serious about this investment and currently in talks with the Maharashtra government for land,” said Abhyuday Jindal.
The proposed plant is expected to be developed over the next 10 years, creating over 15,000 jobs during its construction and operational phases. The facility will have a total melting capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum and will be developed in phases, with the first phase scheduled to go live within four years.
The plant will manufacture a broad range of stainless steel flat products, covering various grades and finishes to cater to sectors like hydrogen, nuclear energy, defense, mobility, infrastructure, and specialized process industries.
JSL currently operates two manufacturing units in Hisar (Haryana) and Jajpur (Odisha), with a combined capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum. The company aims to increase its total capacity to 4.2 million tonnes by FY 2027.
This major expansion move aligns with India’s growing infrastructure and industrial requirements, strengthening JSL’s position as a key player in the domestic and global stainless steel market.
