Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) has commissioned its first Continuous Galvanising Line (CGL-1) at the Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha, marking a major step in its downstream expansion.
The new line will produce galvanised and galvalume steel under the company’s premium brands—Panther Galvanised and ZINKALUME. These products cater to a wide range of sectors, including automotive, appliances, construction, and infrastructure.
CGL-1 is equipped to handle steel thicknesses from 0.15 mm to 1.50 mm and widths from 700 mm to 1,400 mm, allowing it to deliver high-quality products for varied industrial uses. Panther Galvanised steel will serve applications such as air conditioners, electrical panels, ducts, silos, and vehicle bodies. ZINKALUME, known for its enhanced corrosion and heat resistance, is ideal for solar structures, fuel tanks, and refrigerator parts.
The line also supports the production of high-strength steel for automotive underbody parts and thin-gauge coils for tubes, tanks, and building systems.
JSPL Chairman Naveen Jindal hailed the development as a milestone in the company’s efforts to offer advanced, value-added steel products. The company plans to further expand its capacity at Angul, targeting 12 MTPA by the end of 2025.
This move strengthens JSPL’s position in the domestic and export markets for coated steel products, setting the stage for sustained growth.
