Jindal Stainless Ltd stated it delivered 75 tonnes of high-end steel for the Esplanade-Howrah Maidan portion of the Kolkata Metro in West Bengal, which runs beneath the Hooghly River. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the undersea metro project earlier this month.

In a statement, Jindal Stainless said to have provided the project's coaches and infrastructure with superior "SS 301LN" grade stainless steel. The project is an East-West Metro corridor segment connecting Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V.

SS 301 N is a corrosion-resistant grade that does not require frequent repair and maintenance and is the most cost-effective choice in terms of life cycle costs, according to JSL, adding it supplied 75 tonnes of steel.
