A major industrial accident at a private steel plant in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district left nine workers injured after a furnace explosion early Monday morning. The incident took place around 4 am in Hesla under Ramgarh police station limits, according to officials. Seven of the injured workers are reported to be in critical condition, with burn injuries exceeding 60 per cent. The accident has once again put the spotlight on plant safety, emergency preparedness, and industrial risk management in the steel sector. For steel market watchers, the incident is not just a local tragedy but a reminder of the human and operational costs tied to lapses in workplace safety. As authorities monitor treatment and assess the situation, the case is likely to intensify discussion around compliance, safety audits, and preventive systems in high-heat steel operations.
