China steel output falls 3.6%, mills stay cautious Gas crunch hits India’s steel industry Turkey pig iron imports jump 42.6%
India’s steel industry is coming under pressure as gas supply shortages begin to disrupt plant operations and fuel availability. The crunch, linked to escalating tensions in the Middle East and disruptions to LNG flows and shipping routes, is affecting both large steelmakers and smaller units. JSW Group has warned that supply issues are hurting operational stability, while Jindal Stainless has already said some of its plants are running at reduced capacity. Industry bodies have also flagged shortages of propane and LPG across the steel value chain, raising concerns over production, delivery timelines, and costs. With gas-based processes critical to several steel and stainless operations, the supply squeeze could weigh on output if disruptions continue.
