                            According to the Joint Plant Committee (JPC) under the Ministry of Steel, India's steel imports have been tentatively estimated at 0.55 million metric tonnes (MMT) in May this year, up 13% year over year.
The data showed that India’s steel exports during the month were estimated at 0.43 MMT, a decline of 38% year over year.
Total steel exports during the April-May period of 2024 came to 0.94MMT, a 40% fall, while imports amounted to 1,44 MMT, a 20% rise, both year on year.
