The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) held a pre-bid meeting at IFCI Limited in New Delhi, kicking off the second round of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) initiative to increase India's Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) manufacture by 10 GWh.
The meeting was attended by industry players and government entities such as NITI Aayog, Ministry of Power, MNRE, and the industry group IESA, and it marked a step towards increasing India's ACC manufacturing capability.
The event was intended to prepare for a global tender to develop giga-scale ACC manufacturing facilities in India, emphasising technology-agnostic ACCs. The Ministry described the global tender's scope, objectives, technical requirements, eligibility criteria, and evaluation process, with a deadline of March 4, 2024, for bidder queries.
Union minister of heavy industries Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, emphasized the PLI ACC scheme's role in advancing India as a leader in sustainable energy technologies, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a self-reliant India.
The tender documents have been available since January 24, 2024, with the bid due date on April 22, 2024, and bids opening on April 23, 2024. The ministry highlighted the online, transparent two-stage bidding process under the Quality and Cost undefined Selection (QCBS) framework through the CPP Portal, aimed at attracting global talent to India's ACC manufacturing sector.
