On February 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the three-day India Energy Week event in Goa. He will unveil public projects amounting to over ₹1,330 crore during the event.
These projects include the inauguration of a permanent campus at the National Institute of Technology in Ponda and a new campus at the National Institute of Watersports in Panaji.
"Prime Minister will also inaugurate a 100 TPD Integrated Waste Management Facility in South Goa. It has been designed for the scientific treatment of 60 TPD wet waste and 40 TPD dry waste while featuring a 500 KW solar power plant that generates surplus electricity," a press statement said on February 5.
According to Google Maps, the foundation stone will be laid for a new passenger ropeway connecting Panaji and Reis Magos, which is currently a 7-kilometre-long drive that takes 25 minutes by car.
The PM will also lay the foundation for constructing a 100 million-a-day water treatment plant in South Goa and distribute appointment orders to 1,930 people applying for government jobs under the Rozgar Mela.
The 35-year-old Institute of Petroleum Safety, Health and Environment Management (IPSHEM) — with an active campus since 1997 — will be transformed into the ONGC Sea Survival Centre, reportedly at the cost of ₹250 crores.
This will "advance the Indian sea survival training ecosystem to global standards" and train 10,000-15,000 people every year in simulated harsh weather conditions to help them survive real-life disasters, the press statement said.
