Global stainless steel production increased by 2.5% in the first quarter of 2026, reaching 15.8 million tons, according to World Stainless Association data reported by SteelRadar. Asia remained the key growth driver, producing 13.4 million tons, up 3.3% year-on-year, with China continuing to dominate global stainless steel output.
However, the European Union saw production fall by 4.6% to 1.5 million tons, reflecting weaker regional momentum. The United States recorded 0.6 million tons, marking a 2.3% annual increase.
The latest figures indicate steady global stainless steel demand, supported by industrial, construction, automotive and infrastructure sectors, while regional trends remain mixed.
