The European Steel Association (EUROFER) has officially filed a petition with the European Commission seeking an anti-dumping investigation into imports of cold-rolled coil (CRC) steel from Turkey.
According to EUROFER, Turkish CRC is being exported to the European Union at prices below fair market value, creating an uneven playing field and causing material injury to EU steelmakers. Cold-rolled Coil, widely used in automotive, construction, and manufacturing sectors, is a critical product for the region’s industrial supply chain.
If the petition is accepted, the European Commission will launch a formal investigation to determine whether Turkish imports are indeed being dumped and whether they are harming domestic producers. The process could lead to the imposition of anti-dumping duties, restricting unfairly priced imports and safeguarding EU manufacturers.
This case comes amid rising trade defence activity in Europe. In recent years, the EU has increasingly applied anti-dumping and countervailing duties to protect its steel industry from cheap imports, particularly from Asia and non-EU countries. The Turkish CRC case underscores the bloc’s intent to shield its industrial base and ensure fair competition within the single market.
