BSL management signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chennai-based Ram Charan Company Private Limited (RCPL) to develop a silicon extraction plant on the former's premises, according to sources.
"The goal of the MoU between the BSL and the RCPL is to transform slag into value-added products," stated Manikant Dhan, chief of BSL's communication department. In the presence of the BSL's executive director (works), B K Tiwari, and general manager (ECS), Navin Prakash Srivastava, the MoU was signed by the MD of the RCPL, Kaushik Palicha, and the CGM (maintenance), P K Baisakhia. The Memorandum of Understanding denotes a strategic alliance for resource optimisation and sustainable waste management.
“Steel slag, a byproduct of steel production, poses a disposal challenge. It harbours valuable elements such as titanium, nickel, and zinc. These elements can be extracted, offering value addition across applications,” said Dhan.
