Australia’s Antidumping Commission has decided to maintain anti-dumping duties on imports of reinforcing steel bar (rebar) from South Korea and Spain, following an expiry review of the measures due to lapse on 19 November 2025. The review, requested by domestic producer InfraBuild, covered the period from 1 October 2023 to 30 September 2024.

The commission concluded that removing the duties would likely lead to a continuation or recurrence of dumping and material injury to the Australian industry. As a result, it recommended that the measures remain in force, with revised duty rates for the exporters concerned. South Korea’s Daehan Steel will face a 2.3% duty, Dongkuk Steel Mill a floor price equivalent to a 2.5% margin, while other Korean exporters will be subject to a 12% rate.

For Spain, Compañía Española de Laminación will be levied a 12.4% duty, and all other Spanish exporters, excluding Nervacero S.A., will be charged 15%. The duties apply to rebar up to 50 mm in diameter, classified under a range of HS codes including 7213.10.00.42 and 7214.20.00.47, among others.

The decision underscores Australia’s continued protectionist stance on long steel products amid global overcapacity and ongoing trade remedies targeting rebar from multiple origins.
