The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) recorded a significant advancement with the successful launch of its 11th steel bridge in Ahmedabad. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) executed this installation over the Cadila flyover, marking continued momentum in India’s first bullet train project.

The newly installed bridge measures 70 meters in length and weighs approximately 670 metric tonnes. Designed to meet the demanding requirements of high-speed rail operations, the structure is secured using over 29,000 Tor-Shear Type High Strength bolts and is coated with a C5-grade protective system to ensure long-term corrosion resistance.

To minimize public disruption, engineers erected the bridge using a temporary steel staging platform positioned 16.5 meters above ground level. Fabrication work for this bridge was carried out in Gujarat, reflecting the project’s strong alignment with India’s manufacturing capabilities.

In total, the MAHSR corridor will feature 28 steel bridges- 17 in Gujarat and 11 in Maharashtra. With the launch of the 11th structure, a substantial portion of the steel bridge component is now complete.

Parallel progress continues across the wider project, including electrification activities, viaduct construction, and major tunneling breakthroughs. Current expectations indicate partial operations on specific stretches by 2027, with full-scale operations projected towards the latter part of the decade.

The bullet train corridor, once operational, is expected to drastically reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad and catalyze economic activity along the route, reinforcing India’s commitment to modern, high-speed infrastructure.
