Tata Steel is set to inaugurate the Phase II unit of its Kalinganagar steel plant in Odisha's Jajpur district on May 22, 2025. This expansion, involving an investment of ₹27,000 crore, will increase the plant's capacity from 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 8 MTPA, marking a significant milestone in India's steel manufacturing sector .
The Phase II expansion encompasses the commissioning of India's largest blast furnace, along with the addition of a pellet plant, coke plant, and a cold rolling mill. These facilities are designed with advanced technologies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing carbon emissions .
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Tata Steel's CEO and Managing Director, T. V. Narendran, along with other senior company officials. This development is expected to bolster Tata Steel's position in the global steel industry and contribute significantly to the economic growth of the region.
