Tata Motors launches 8th scrapping unit in Kolkata
Capacity to recycle 15,000 vehicles annually
Supports India’s vehicle scrappage and green mobility goals.
In a significant move towards sustainable mobility and circular economy, Tata Motors Limited has commissioned its eighth Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Kolkata, West Bengal. The facility, established under the brand name ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect’, aligns with India’s National Vehicle Scrappage Policy aimed at phasing out old, polluting vehicles.
The new facility can scrap up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) annually, including passenger and commercial vehicles of all makes. It is fully digitalized and equipped with advanced dismantling, depollution, and material recovery systems, ensuring environmentally safe and efficient operations.
Speaking at the launch, Tata Motors emphasized its commitment to cleaner mobility solutions and responsible end-of-life vehicle disposal. The facility in Kolkata follows the successful commissioning of similar plants in cities like Jaipur, Surat, Bhubaneshwar, and others.
With stricter vehicle scrappage norms being rolled out across India, Tata Motors’ expanding scrappage infrastructure is expected to play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions, reclaiming valuable materials, and promoting safer roads.
