                            The AIIFA Sustainable Steel Manufacturers Association, representing over 1,800 members nationwide, has called for comprehensive reforms in standards, sustainability practices, and taxation to strengthen the resilience and global competitiveness of India's steel sector.India’s steel industry has called for key reforms in quality standards, green steel promotion, and GST simplification to strengthen competitiveness and support sustainable growth.
Industry bodies emphasized the need for updated and uniform standards to ensure quality consistency across the supply chain. They also highlighted the importance of encouraging green steel production through incentives, which would align with global climate commitments and expand export opportunities.
In addition, the sector has sought simplification of the GST framework to reduce compliance costs, especially for small and medium producers. According to industry representatives, these reforms will lower costs, improve efficiency, and help position India’s steel industry as a stronger player in global markets.
