India’s largest steelmaker, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), is set to commence operations at the Tasra coking coal mine in Jharkhand by 2026. The move is aimed at reducing import dependence and ensuring a steady supply of raw materials for steel production.

The Tasra coal mine, with an estimated reserve of 96 million tonnes, will significantly bolster SAIL’s domestic coal sourcing.
