Oil India Limited (OIL) and Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly work on the conversion of municipal solid waste (MSW) into compressed biogas (CBG), marking a significant step towards environmental sustainability and cleaner energy solutions. The MoU was formalised on Saturday, with NRL's Managing Director, Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, representing OIL, and GMC's Commissioner, Megha Nidhi Dahal (IAS), representing the Guwahati Municipal Corporation. The signing ceremony took place at the NRL Corporate Office in Guwahati, in the presence of OIL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Dr. Ranjit Rath, Director of operations), Pankaj Goswami and Director (HR) Ashok Das.
This collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to environmental conservation, effective waste management, and the generation of clean energy. Through the combined expertise of OIL and GMC, the initiative aims to make a substantial contribution to reducing the carbon footprint and fostering a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
