National Aluminium Company (NALCO) signed a Mining Lease deed with the State Government of Odisha for 697.979 hectares of bauxite mines in Pottangi Tehsil, Koraput District. The mine has an annual capacity of 3.5 million tonnes (MT) and reserves estimated at 111 MT, with a mine life of 32 years.
The mine is expected to operate soon after securing the necessary statutory clearances. The mined bauxite would be transported to the NALCO Refinery in Damanjodi via an 18.5-kilometre overland conveyor. This calculated action supports NALCO's future expansions and guarantees a steady supply of raw materials for the company's current refinery.
With this enhanced resource base, NALCO is poised to strengthen its position in the Aluminum Industry, optimize production efficiency and meet the growing demand for Aluminum domestically and internationally.
