India’s Ministry of Steel is set to conduct a virtual Open House to address concerns related to steel imports, offering industry stakeholders a direct platform to discuss operational and procedural issues. The initiative aims to improve coordination between the government and businesses dealing with steel imports and related compliance requirements.
According to the ministry, companies and industry associations can present issues related to SIMS, SARAL SIMS, and Quality Control Order (QCO) exemptions during the session. Participants are required to register in advance by submitting company details, product category, issue references, and participant information through official email channels to receive confirmed time slots.
The Open House is intended to streamline steel import procedures and help resolve pending application-related concerns affecting sectors such as automotive, aerospace, telecom, defence, and engineering industries. Officials stated that only authorized representatives from organizations will be allowed to participate, while third-party representation will not be permitted. Industry experts believe the initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on balancing domestic steel manufacturing interests with the requirements of import-dependent industries. The discussions are expected to provide greater clarity on regulatory procedures, compliance requirements, and future import management policies for the steel sector.
