Millcon Steel PCL and Meranti Green Steel have signed an MoU to accelerate green steel development in Thailand, marking a notable step toward low-carbon steel production in Southeast Asia. The partnership will focus on cutting greenhouse gas emissions across the steelmaking process while supporting practical, scalable solutions for cleaner manufacturing.
The collaboration also aims to bring together government bodies, industry associations, and related businesses to help shape standards, guidelines, and support systems aligned with global environmental and trade requirements. Millcon said the move supports Thailand’s climate goals and strengthens the long-term competitiveness of its steel industry. Meranti added that Thailand has the potential to emerge as a regional hub for low-carbon steel, backed by future green iron initiatives and a more sustainable steel value chain.
