Jindal Stainless Ltd (JSL) has announced a $150 million investment to establish a state-of-the-art slag processing unit aimed at promoting circular economy practices and sustainable steel manufacturing.
The new facility will focus on recycling and reusing stainless steel slag, converting industrial waste into valuable construction materials such as aggregates and cement substitutes. This will significantly reduce waste generation and enhance resource efficiency across JSL’s production chain.
According to Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, “This investment reinforces our commitment to sustainable growth and zero-waste manufacturing. We aim to turn industrial by-products into future-ready solutions.”
The unit will be equipped with advanced separation and recovery technologies, enabling the extraction of metals and minerals for reuse in steelmaking. It will also support India’s national sustainability and green manufacturing goals, aligning with global ESG benchmarks.
Industry experts say the project highlights Jindal Stainless’s leadership in responsible production and waste valorization, setting an example for India’s steel industry to adopt eco-innovative practices that minimize environmental impact.
