Jindal Defence Systems Private Ltd (JDSPL) has partnered with Brazil-based global leader Taurus Armas SA to begin producing small firearms at its cutting-edge manufacturing facilities in Hisar, Haryana, after getting the requisite regulatory licence.
The action will increase competition in the small arms market, which is already home to producers from public sector units (PSUs) and private companies, some of whom have partnerships with international companies, to meet requests from state, federal, and military police.
According to the JDSP, the company has obtained certification for several goods, with a 50–100% value addition in India for various products, including revolvers, machine pistols, carbines, submachine guns, and rifles.
In the next financial year, the company aims to manufacture between 25,000 and 30,000 weapons at the two-acre facility, which JDSPL boasts represents a “fusion of world-class expertise and cutting-edge technology.”
The manufacturing plant will have an annual production capacity of up to 2,50,000 weapons, which the company believes will strategically position JD Taurus to address the country's burgeoning demand. JDSPL has obtained all necessary regulatory approvals and clearances from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
