MOIL lowers all grades of manganese ore prices for June.
Price reduction is intended to be in line with international market trends.
New rates from June 1, 2025.
India's state-owned MOIL Limited has cut the prices of all manganese ore grades for June delivery. The move is on the back of changing global market conditions and a fall in international manganese ore prices during the last month.
Industry observers point out that the new pricing will be effective from June 1, 2025, and is likely to give relief to alloy and steel producers that are facing increasing input prices. The decision by MOIL is interpreted as a measure to sustain competitive positions in the domestic and export markets.
The extent of reduction differs by ore grades, with higher-grade ores seeing steeper cuts than medium and lower-grade versions. Experts opine that this price revision can affect alloy and ferroalloy product prices in the local market in the next few weeks.
Given weak international manganese ore markets, MOIL's price revision maintains Indian procurement in line with global standards, making it more competitive for Indian steel producers.
