New Delhi– India and New Zealand have resumed negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) after a nine-year hiatus. The talks, which were stalled since 2015, aim to strengthen bilateral trade and economic ties between the two nations.

Key Developments:

The renewed FTA discussions focus on reducing tariffs and enhancing market access for key sectors, including agriculture and manufacturing.
India seeks better access for its pharmaceuticals and IT services, while New Zealand aims to secure more favorable terms for its dairy and agricultural exports.
Both sides have expressed optimism about reaching a mutually beneficial agreement in the coming months.

FTA talks between India and New Zealand began in 2010 but were suspended in 2015 due to disagreements over tariff structures and market access. The recent push for resumption reflects a broader strategy to diversify trade partnerships and reduce dependency on key markets.
