Ilsenburger Grobblech, a subsidiary of Salzgitter AG, has achieved a major milestone in safety steel by securing certificates for the military use of additional steel grades. The approvals complete the company’s central certification scope for its SECURE security steel portfolio, strengthening its position in the European defence steel market.
With the latest approvals, Ilsenburger Grobblech can now cover around 80% to 90% of the steel requirements for a typical military vehicle. The company said the completed SECURE heavy plate approval scope marks an important step in supplying TL-approved safety steel to defence industry customers.
This development highlights the growing demand for certified, high-performance steel plates used in military vehicles, protection systems and security applications. It also underlines Ilsenburger Grobblech’s technical strength and the strategic importance of its Ilsenburg production site. With further steel grades and thickness ranges under development, the company is expected to expand its role in specialised defence-grade steel supply.
