AM/NS India has received environmental clearance and land allotment for a new 8.2 million tonnes per annum blast-furnace-based integrated steel plant at Rajayyapeta in Anakapalli district.
In Phase-1, the company plans to invest about ₹80,000 crore on roughly 2,200 acres. The project is designed for phased expansion to 24 MTPA over time, with a total investment potential exceeding ₹1.5 lakh crore. Site preparation and early works are expected to begin within this calendar year.
On full build-out, the facility is positioned to be among India’s largest greenfield steel investments, supporting downstream ecosystems across construction, engineering, and automotive supply chains.
The clearance also signals growing policy momentum for capacity addition even as the sector explores decarbonisation pathways through scrap-EAF, energy efficiency and, over time, hydrogen-DRI integration. Commissioning timelines will be finalised after financial closure and contracting.
