Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of Tosyalı Holding and a leading figure in Turkey’s steel sector, has warned that unchecked Chinese steel dumping could cause irreparable damage to the country’s steel industry. Speaking at an industry forum, Tosyalı stressed that Turkish producers are facing severe pressure from low-priced imports, which threaten margins, jobs, and long-term competitiveness.
He noted that Chinese exporters have been flooding global markets with excess steel, creating distortions and undercutting local industries. For Turkey, one of the largest steel producers in the region, the situation is particularly concerning as it risks destabilizing a sector that contributes significantly to employment, exports, and industrial growth.
Tosyalı called on the government and regulatory bodies to take urgent protective measures, including anti-dumping duties and stricter trade enforcement, to safeguard domestic producers. He emphasized that without intervention, the Turkish steel sector could lose market share and investment opportunities, leading to long-term structural decline.
Industry analysts echoed these concerns, noting that China’s export surge is reshaping global trade flows and intensifying challenges for steelmakers worldwide.
